Where the senior call sits
Every engagement has a small set of decisions that bind it: scope decisions that change what is being built, architecture decisions that change how it is built, security decisions that change what risk it carries, release decisions that change when it goes live. These are the calls a senior product or engineering lead has always made. Orzed does not move them.
What changes is the surface around the calls. In a typical agency, a senior lead spends most of their week on oversight: reading status updates, writing review notes, sitting in standups, chasing context across tools. The actual decision work is a fraction of the calendar. In Orzed, the AI layer runs the queue underneath the senior lead, so most of their time goes into the calls themselves and the few exploratory artifacts that need a human read.
The result is the senior lead is closer to the work than they would be in any other model. Not further away from it, even though the AI is involved.
Where the AI sits
The Orzed model stack runs three tiers (Horizon for planning depth, Meridian for execution work, Pulse for high frequency gates) and a small set of named agents on top of them. Each agent does a defined job:
- Intake Agent reads every brief that enters the Console and produces an Intake Report flagging gaps, ambiguities and risks. The senior lead reads the brief and the Report together.
- Planning Agent turns the approved brief into a Planning Recommendation: the work decomposition, dependencies, role assignment and bands on cost and throughput. The senior lead converts the Recommendation into the Approved Baseline.
- QA Agent runs the first pass on every Execution lane deliverable, producing an evidence pack the senior reviewer reads alongside the deliverable.
None of the agents make binding decisions. The Console labels every agent output as exploratory. Binding artifacts (Engagement Acceptance Note, Approved Baseline, Senior Reviewer Verdict, Release Readiness) come from a human signed surface and are recorded against a named individual.
Where the customer sees it
The Console is the customer’s view into the engagement. Five surfaces matter most.
Live Delivery Tracking. Every deliverable that flows out of an Execution lane shows up here as it lands, with the QA evidence pack already attached. Customers do not wait for a weekly report; they watch the work move.
Approval Checkpoints. When the engagement reaches a gate that needs a customer call (sign off on the Approved Baseline, sign off on a release candidate, decision on a scope change), the checkpoint surfaces with the relevant artifacts and the named senior reviewer who owns the call.
Budget and Usage. Project Credits consumed and remaining, broken down by deliverable. Customers see what they are spending on without having to read the inference economics underneath.
AI Agent and Human Review. The agent activity stream is visible alongside the senior review activity. Customers can see which model handled which task, which agent surfaced which finding, and which senior reviewer signed which call.
Release and Activity Signals. When something ships (a deployment, a release artifact, a maintenance run), the signal lands in the Console as an event with the underlying evidence linked.
The unifying property is observability. The customer is not reading a curated status; they are reading the same surface the team is working from.
The economics of speed
The reason this model is faster than the alternatives is structural, not motivational. Two specific levers.
Routing. Every task entering the Console is classified by the Routing Layer and sent to the smallest model that can handle it well. The platform pays Horizon prices for Horizon work and Pulse prices for Pulse work, instead of treating every call as if it needed the largest model. On a typical engagement this is a 25 to 35 percent saving on the underlying compute, which translates into faster turnarounds because cheaper inference is faster inference.
Queue compression. The QA Agent reduces the time a deliverable spends waiting for a senior reviewer’s first read by a factor in the 3.2x to 3.6x range. The senior reviewer still owns the binding call, but they arrive at a pre filtered queue with an evidence pack already assembled, so the call itself takes a fraction of the time. Compounded across an engagement, this is the largest single contributor to speed.
Neither lever removes a senior reviewer from the loop. Both reduce the friction between volume work and senior judgement.
What it does not change
Three things stay structurally the same as a traditional senior led delivery team.
The named senior lead is still accountable. If the engagement goes wrong, there is a person to talk to, not a queue to file a ticket against.
The decisions that change the engagement still go through human signed checkpoints. AI accelerates the work between checkpoints; it does not skip them.
The customer relationship still runs through people. The Console surfaces the engagement; the conversations that interpret it run between named senior leads and the customer.
These are the load bearing properties of a serious delivery model, and they are deliberately preserved.
What this looks like in practice
A typical engagement in this model:
- The customer submits a brief through the Console. Intake Agent produces an Intake Report. The Technical Review Team responds within a business day with the next step.
- After acceptance, the Planning Agent produces a Planning Recommendation. Senior leads convert it into an Approved Baseline. The customer signs off on the Baseline.
- Execution begins. Most of the work runs through Meridian under senior oversight, with Horizon handling the heavier reasoning calls and Pulse running the inline gates.
- Every deliverable flows through the QA Agent. The senior reviewer signs the binding call.
- Approval Checkpoints surface in the Console as the engagement reaches them. The customer participates in the gates that need their input.
- Release runs through a senior signed Release Readiness call. Activity signals continue to land in the Console after launch.
Across the engagement, the customer sees the same model running that they signed up for. The team is closer to the calls than a typical engagement would let them be. The AI is doing the work it is sized for, and only that.
